IDS official says only left and liberal option acceptable

Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) official Valter Flego on Sunday evening expressed satisfaction with an exit poll forecasting three seats for this regional party in Croatia's new parliament, and underscored that the IDS considered only a leftist and liberal coalition acceptable.

"It is too early to comment on anything based on the exit poll, and I want to thank all who voted for our programme," Flego told Hina. "We are satisfied with the exit poll," he added.

As for post-election coalitions, Flego said that "only a left and liberal option is acceptable to us."

The IDS, which ran in this election on its own, was a junior partner in the previous government led by the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
