A former police official, Zeljko Dolacki, was on Thursday indicted for a robbery at the Zagreb Criminal Investigation Department that occurred in the night between April 3 and 4, and the indictment to this effect was raised by the the anti-corruption office USKOK.
A total of two kilograms of gold, 640,000 kuna and 280,000 euros were stolen from police headquarters during the robbery. According to USKOK, Dolacki staged a burglary to cover up his theft.
Dolacki's lawyer said his client denied all charged against him.
The robbery at the Zagreb Criminal Investigation Department that occurred in the night between April 3 and 4 was the reason for the resignations offered by Chief Police Director Vlado Dominic, the head of the Zagreb police directorate, Goran Burisic, and another two senior police officials in Zagreb, and for the suspension of police official Dolacki.
Dolacki was arrested in late April and was detained in custody until 10 June. He was released then after some 30 witnesses had been questioned.
