Interior Ministry gets another border surveillance helicopter

Croatia received at Zagreb airport on Tuesday an AW 139 helicopter for border surveillance that was procured with funds from the Schengen Instrument for EUR 15.7 million.

The aircraft was handed over to Interior Minister Vlaho Orepic by representatives of the Italian company Leonardo Finmeccanica. Croatia now has two such helicopters, the first having been procured in January.

We now have the best helicopters when it comes to border surveillance and, by procuring them, we are closer to meeting all the requirements for joining the Schengen Area, he said.
