Karamarko says wants to believe Milanovic will invest more energy in stabilising social relations

First Deputy Prime Minister and Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) leader Tomislav Karamarko has congratulated on his Facebook profile the opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP) on having elected its leader, stressing that he wanted to believe that the SDP and Zoran Milanovic, in his new term in office, would invest much more energy in stabilising relations in the Croatian society.

"I want to believe that the SDP and Zoran Milanovic... will invest much more effort in stabilising social relations and that we will compete for our citizens' political support and trust in a fair and decent way. We can be political opponents, think differently about many issues, but our common goal is the same - a better life for all our citizens," Karamarko wrote.

He also wished the SDP leader and his party to "be a constructive Opposition for a long time."

The SDP on Saturday re-elected Milanovic party president.
