Lawmakers pass 1st law sponsored by new government

Croatia's Parliament on Friday adopted the first law sponsored by the cabinet of Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic and this was a bill of amendments to legislation on the management of state-owned property.

Under the amendment, voted with 108 lawmakers in favour, two against and seven abstentions, the commission in charge of managing state-owned companies of strategic importance will include both Deputy Prime Ministers: Tomislav Karamarko of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and Bozo Petrov of the Bridge Party.

Although the parliament was expected to vote on amendments to legislation on strategically important investment projects, this did not happen due to the Bridge's amendment about additional criteria for the assessment of investors, which now should be considered by the government before being put on the parliament's agenda.

Lawmakers adopted reports of auditors on the financial performance of public cultural institutions, nongovernmental organisations and ethnic minorities' institutions.
