Finance Minister Zdravko Maric will lead a Croatian delegation to the annual meeting of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) taking place in Washington on October 6-9, the Ministry of Finance announced on Thursday.
The Croatian delegation will include representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, and the Croatian National Bank.
Several meetings are scheduled with WB officials. Maric is due to meet with WB Vice-President for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller, Regional Director for the European Union Countries, Europe and Central Asia Arup Banerji, and Executive Director Frank Heemskerk. They will discuss the existing projects, further activities in the preparation and approval of new projects, and future cooperation between Croatia and the World Bank.
The Croatian delegation will also meet with IMF officials, including the Director of the European Department, Poul M. Thomsen, Executive Director Anthony De Lannoy, and the head of the IMF mission to Croatia, Khaled Sakr, to discuss the macroeconomic situation in Croatia and monetary and fiscal policy measures.
Also scheduled are meetings with the President of the Inter-American Development Bank, Luis Alberto Moreno, the Governor of the Council of Europe Development Bank, Rolf Wenzel, and the First Vice-President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Philip Bennett.
This year's WB and IMF annual meeting will be attended by high-level delegations from 189 countries.
