Maritime ministry: 45% more yachts and boats in Croatia in H1

In the first six months of this year port authorities and their outposts have recorded a total of 21,941 arrivals of foreign vessels, which is an increase of 45.2% compared with the same period last year, the Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Ministry reported on Monday.

That is an increase in absolute numbers of 6,800 foreign vessels compared with 2015 when the arrival of 15,111 vessels was recorded on the year.

Of the 21,941 recorded in H1 this year, 6,609 have come to Croatia for the first time which is an increase of 12.34%. That is the greatest jump in the number of arrivals to Croatia in one semester, the Ministry underscored.

The remaining 15,332 vessels have previously been to Croatia but 66.15% of these have arrived earlier this year which is one of the main reasons for such a significant increase in their numbers y-o-y, a press release says.

The countries vessels are coming from haven't changed much compared to 2015 so the largest number has sailed in under a German flag (7,543), followed by vessels from Austria (4,176), Slovenia (2,998), Italy (2,352), Czech Republic (800) and Great Britain and Northern Ireland (582), which marked the largest increase in arrivals of 87.14% compared to H1, 2015, the press release says.
