Medved says will make ministry accessible to all veterans

War veterans ministerial nominee Tomo Medved said on Tuesday that his plan was to make the ministry accessible and available to all veterans.

"After my nomination was accepted by Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic, the vision is to make the War Veterans Ministry accessible and available to all Croatian veterans, with a clear goal, so that it can fulfil its purpose in line with the present time," Medved told Croatian Television.

As for cuts for the ministry envisaged in the 2016 draft budget, he said, "We will look at all the circumstances and I'm confident that the ministry will function with the proposed financial plan."

Commenting on a long-standing veterans' protest outside the ministry, Medved said it was a consequence of a series of problems which happened among veterans in recent years. "After taking over the ministry, we will urgently address those problems, which will be followed by talks on the protesting veterans."
