"Met4Pharm" project example of science-economy synergy

A project to develop new methodologies for the control of drug manufacturing called "Met4Pharm", carried out by the Zagreb Faculty of Science and the Pliva Hrvatska pharmaceutical company, is an example of successful cooperation between scientific institutions and the business sector which has contributed to the competitiveness of Croatia's economy, it was said at the presentation of the project at Pliva's research institute on Tuesday.

The project is also part of a positive trend of securing European Union funding for major investments in science, which enable economic development based on innovations and higher competitiveness of Croatian institutions, science personnel and the pharmaceutical industry, it was said.

Science Minister Predrag Sustar said this was an excellent example of cooperation between the scientific and business sectors.

The project cost HRK 7.5 million, of which over HRK 6 million was co-financed by the European Fund for Regional Development. It was launched in October 2014 and is aimed at contributing to the development of the pharmaceutical industry by increasing human and technological scientific and research capacities.
