Milanovic dismisses Karamarko's statement about growth forecast as unfounded

Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader and former Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic has described as unfounded the claim by First Deputy Prime Minister and Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) leader Tomislav Karamarko that the upward revision of the Croatian economic outlook by the European Commission was the result of "an impulse provided by the new government."

"Tim's PowerPoint presentation did not provide any impulse to these results and the Commission's revision of its growth forecast for the Croatian economy for this year from 1.4 to 2.1 per cent speaks of the work of our government. The Commission's projection covers the data collected until January 22, before the new government was sworn in, so Karamarko's statement that the new government deserves credit for this is unfounded," Milanovic said on his Facebook page on Thursday.

Milanovic was referring to the presentation of the government programme by Prime Minister Tihomir "Tim" Oreskovic when the new Cabinet was approved by Parliament.
