Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader Zoran Milanovic said in an interview with Radio Dalmatia on Saturday that Croatia could not "close the topic of the Ustashas and the Partisans" because the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) "is as empty as a pumpkin" and unable to discuss "policies, economy, fiscal theory or public debt."
The HDZ today is "a disaster", consisting of "people who talk about lustration and scare other people with communists and Serbs."
Asked if Croatians could put an end to discussions about the Ustashas and the Partisans, he said: "We can't because the HDZ is as empty as a pumpkin. They cannot speak about policy elements, or economy or fiscal theory, public debt, private debt - that's not in their sphere of interest. Serbs, communists, anti-people's government, lustration. What you can do for some time is not comment on that. But then they appoint a minister who wore an Ustasha cap and it turns into a show again. All these things burden the country," said Milanovic.
