Minister brands calls for his resignation as petty-politicking

Culture Minister Zlatko Hasanbegovic said on Tuesday that the insistence of disgruntled reporters on his resignation was an act of petty politicking.

Earlier on Tuesday, dozens of disgruntled journalists gathered for a march from the headquarters of the Croatian Journalists' Association (HND) to the Ministry of Culture protesting against deteriorating freedom of the media and demanding that Minister Hasanbegovic step down.

During his visit to Ivanica, southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hasanbegovic said that the demand of the protesters "is not based on facts. Furthermore, this is an attempt to manipulate the public both home and abroad."
