MP says all contracts at Foreign Ministry were lawful

MP Igor Kolman of the Croatian People's Party (HNS) on Wednesday dismissed State Audit Office claims that, when Vesna Pusic (HNS) was foreign minister, her ministry unlawfully paid fees to one employee, saying auditors found no irregularities at the ministry in 2013.

All contracts at the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry during our government's term were in line with the law and it was certainly so in this case too, Kolman said in a press release.

He said the State Audit Office found nothing irregular at the ministry in 2013 and wondered why now, a month before the parliamentary election, it found that the contracts signed with that employee had been unlawful.

In a report recently posted on its website on audits carried out in 2015, the Office says that in 2013, 2014 and 2015 the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry signed with one of its secretaries additional contracts for collecting and processing documents and other work based on which, aside from her regular salary, she received fees totalling HRK 297,783 gross. The State Audit Office finds that such an arrangement is in contravention of the Government Employees Act.
