No official statement made after HDZ-led coalition's meeting

Representatives of the parties making up the Patriotic Coalition led by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on Wednesday morning held a meeting in the national parliament, but no official statement was made after the talks.

The Patriotic Coalition and the Bridge party constitute the current Croatian  government led by non-partisan Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic. The meeting was held against a backdrop of the Bridge party's insistence that HDZ leader and First Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Karamarko should step down following a scandal involving close business relations between Karamarko's wife and MOL's lobbyist Josip Petrovic, a friend of the Karamarkos, during the arbitration processes between MOL and Croatia over the INA oil company.

Karamarko attended today's meeting in the parliament but declined to address the press.

Only Ladislav Ilicic of the Hrast party, a junior partner in the Patriotic Coalition, said briefly that they had discussed the topics on the agenda.

Ilicic did not want to answer questions from the press whether they had discussed proposed candidates for the Constitutional Court, and directed journalists to "the Mr. President".
