Number of employed drops by more than 15K in Sept

 A total of 1.345 million people were employed in Croatia in September which is approximately 15,100 people or 1.1% down on the month. September was the second consecutive month that the number of employed people declined, the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS) reported on Friday.

According to the figures released by the DZS, there were 1.124 million people employed by corporate bodies, which is a monthly decrease of about 4,000 people or 0.4%.

The number of people employed by SMEs and free-lancers dropped by 5.3% or by around 11,000 people to 200,055 in total.

The number of people employed in agriculture dropped on the month by 0.4% to 20,967.

September is the second consecutive month that employment decreased on the monthly level as a consequence of the tourism season coming to an end, with seasonal employment growing at its start.

The Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) recently reported that the number of job-seekers at the end of September was 259,459, which is 1.1% or 2,711 people more on the month.

The unemployment rate in September increased from 15.9% to 16.2%.
