Number of foreign cruise ships up

A total of 719 cruise ships visited destinations on the Croatian Adriatic coast in the first ten months of 2015, which was 42 more vessels than last year, and they brought 985,500 visitors or 13,500 more than last year, shows data from the national statistical office (DZS).

The number of visits by cruise ships in the first ten months was 8% higher than in the same period of last year, while the number of passengers on those ships increased 1.4%.

The number of visits by cruise ships in October increased 19% compared to October 2014, and the number of visitors was 137,000, or 6.4% higher.

Dubrovnik-Neretva County accounted for the largest share (64.5%) of those visits, followed by Split-Dalmatia County with a 22% share.

Most of the visiting vessels were from Malta, 181, followed by those from the Bahamas (142), Italy (140) and Panama (108).
