Ostojic: Reiner's claim about domestic policy committee dangerous

Social Democratic Party (SDP) MP and former interior minister Ranko Ostojic said on Friday he considered a statement by Parliament Speaker Zeljko Reiner dangerous, after Reiner said that the Domestic Policy and National Security Committee could continue working even without a chair.

Ostojic, who failed to receive support in parliament on Friday to head that committee, said that no one can stop the SDP from recommending the person to chair that committee.

"That statement by Mr Reiner  today that the committee can continue working without a chairman, is dangerous. SDP will use all legal means to prevent any such thing. SDP will insist on their nominee and it is not important that that be Ranko Ostojic. We will defend the principle that no one can take away our right to propose who should be the person to head that committee. There is no way that committee can continue working without a chair," Ostojic told reporters in parliament.

He said that Parliament would now be without one of the most important bodies responsible for overseeing the security system and other important matters relating to domestic policy.
