Ostojic says Slovenia's requests unilateral and irresponsible

Outgoing Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic said on Wednesday that Slovenia's requests concerning limiting the number of migrants and refugees arriving to Slovenia from Croatia and submitting information about the nationality of the people in the migrant wave was unilateral and irresponsible.

State Secretary in the Slovenian Interior Ministry Bostjan Sefic said earlier Slovenia would in the future ask Croatia to provide a list of migrants it is transporting to the neighbouring country and information about them and if Croatia fails to comply Slovenia will not receive them.

Ostojic said border police chiefs from Italy, Slovenia and Austria would meet on Thursday. The meeting was proposed by the Austrian interior minister so as to discuss conclusions of the Brussels meeting held in October 2015.

Now we have a situation in which unilateral and irresponsible decisions are being made concerning the migrant route at the moment when Europe is "sleeping", Ostojic told a news conference.

Croatia has immediately informed Brussels and countries on the migrant route about it, saying we also expect them to submit those list and to obey by the same rules, otherwise those people will be sent back, Ostojic said.

Croatia will continue to insist on a coordinated activities of all countries on that route and not only of a few countries, he added.

Since the middle of September when the migrant crisis spilt over to Croatia, a total of 572,140 migrants and refugees entered Croatia.
