Outgoing PM backs one HDZ and two Bridge candidates

The outgoing non-partisan Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic on Friday explicitly supported two Bridge candidates in the September 11 parliamentary election and a Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) candidate, in his brief address to the press before receiving Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople in Zagreb.

One of the Bridge candidates is caretaker Interior Minister Vlaho Orepic, whom Oreskovic praised for "leadership and professionalism", primarily in handling the challenges of the Balkan refugee route. In this context, Oreskovic commended Orepic for cooperation with neighbouring countries.

The other Bridge candidate that enjoys Oreskovic's support is Agriculture Minister Davor Romic whom the premier portrayed as a professional "ready to seek solutions rather than leave problems unresolved."

The HDZ candidate who was explicitly supported by Oreskovic is Suncana Glavak, who serves as government spokeswoman. He praised her as "a highly capable woman who knows not only her region but also the whole of Croatia".

Orepic and Romic are running as Bridge candidates in Constituency No.1 (Zagreb), and HDZ official Glavak in Constituency No.3 (Medjimurje).
