Pahor praises Slovenia-Croatia cooperation

Slovenian President Borut Pahor on Wednesday pointed out, during a reception for foreign ambassadors in Ljubljana, the importance of the Slovenia-Croatia cooperation for efforts to stabilise their wider neighbourhood.

"As members of the European Union and NATO, Slovenia and Croatia will continue assisting the international community in efforts to prevent the western Balkan area from turning into a new hotbed of conflicts," Pahor said commenting on an initiative for strengthening the regional cooperation, which was launched six years ago by his country and Croatia.

Pahor said he was happy to see that this cooperation between Slovenia and Croatia was going on successfully.

The bulk of Pahor's speech revolved around the ongoing refugee crisis which he said was undermining the EU achievements.

The Slovenian head of state advocated the EU enlargement in order to prevent the destabilisation of the Balkans.
