Parliament speaker, PM receive US ambassador

Croatian Parliament Speaker Zeljko Reiner on Monday received US Ambassador Julieta Valls Noyes and said that Croatia would continue, bilaterally and within NATO, to contribute to US efforts in the fight against terrorism, parliament said in a press release.

Reiner expressed hope that Croatian citizens would be covered by the US Visa Waiver Program in due course.

He and Valls Noyes agreed on the continuation of economic cooperation, notably in big energy projects which contribute to energy security in Croatia and the wider region.

The US ambassador was also received by Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic, who said Croatia was committed to developing its friendship and alliance with the US in all areas of common interest.

He briefed the diplomat about the priorities of Croatia's home and foreign policy, with an emphasis on a change in the business climate. Oreskovic said he was confident that the new government's first moves would be recognised by US business people and investors.
