Parliament speaker, PM wish merry Christmas

Parliament Speaker Josip Leko wished Croatian citizens on Wednesday a merry Christmas and a happy New Year and that they spend them peacefully and joyfully, with the "strength to overcome life's challenges and conflicts," saying Christmas "fills us with hope and calls for humanity and solidarity."

Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic too wished Croatian citizens a merry Christmas, saying it "is a holiday of closeness and togetherness, a time of kindness and solidarity, a holiday which centres on man's dignity and care for dear ones. These days of peace and hope encourage us even more strongly to advocate universal human values, common to all and much-needed in every functioning society."

He said openness to others, constructive dialogue and understanding were an opportunity for even more closeness, mutual acceptance and acknowledgement.
