Petrov: Karamarko is a burden, HDZ should show if it's democratic party

Deputy Prime Minister and Bridge party president Bozo Petrov said on Saturday that Croatia was in a subordinate position today because of only one person, First Deputy PM Tomislav Karamarko, who he said was a burden and carried political responsibility, and called on Karamarko's HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union) to show if it was a democratic party.

Speaking to reporters in Metkovic, Petrov called on the HDZ, "a party which has 'democratic' in its name," to show that it was democratic "and not a pharaonic party in which one person decides what will happen with the state... I really hope the party knows what political responsibility means."

As for a parliamentary majority reshuffle Karamarko was talking about, Petrov said if Karamarko wanted to do that with Bridge, Bridge would never consent to it. "For us it has always been, Croatia in the heart and not Croatia in the pocket."

He said "it goes on the conscience of anyone who tries to save Karamarko in parliament like that."
