Platforma 112 calls on parties to show how they treat liberal democary

Nongovernmental organisations that make up the Plaform 112 union on Friday presented their demands ahead of a snap parliamentary election, that is likely to be held in September, and asked political parties and independent candidates to express their positions on their demands and how they intend to treat fundamental values of liberal democracy.

Activists of these civil society associations on Friday held a news conference to raise the questions about how much political stakeholders are prepared to defend and develop a democratic political order and a plural, tolerant society.

The NGOs are calling on politicians to show respect for principles of good governance such as engagement of citizens in political decision-making, transparency, anti-corruption policies and development of political responsibility.

The activists presented 47 demands categorised in four groups: human rights and suppression of discrimination; protection of economic and social rights through protection of public and natural assets; democratic conduct  in performing political duties; and, co-governance over the EU in line with principles of liberal democracy, solidarity and social justice.
