Plenkovic says will bring president 91 or 92 signatures supporting him as PM-designate

Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) president Andrej Plenkovic said on Friday he would bring President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on Monday 91 or 92 signatures of MPs for forming a new government, adding that the HDZ's nearly month-long talks with their partners in the Bridge party, with its leader Bozo Petrov at the helm, had been constructive and without dramatic situations.

Earlier in the day, Plenkovic and Petrov said they had agreed the formation of the new government.

Speaking of the negotiations with Bridge after the parliamentary election, Plenkovic said on Croatian Television that the HDZ "chose Bridge as a partner" and that they would have the support of all ethnic minorities.

He would not reveal the names of the new ministers, saying he would begin talks with the candidates as of Monday, when the president is expected to nominate him prime minister-designate. He said he would "choose colleagues who have proven themselves with their work and activity," and that his first move would be presenting the government's platform in parliament, followed by an urgent drafting of the 2017 budget, which would be a reflection of that platform.
