PM says attempts to destabilise gov't won't succeed

Addressing an electoral convention of the ruling HDZ party on Saturday, Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic thanked the HDZ for supporting him as Prime Minister and noting that attempts to destabilise his government would fail.

"The HDZ contributed significantly to the establishment of an independent and free Croatia and that is why I am confident that first and foremost it will care about the interests of the state and its citizens. A government is only as strong as its members, only that way can we do what we have promised our citizens," said Oreskovic, recalling that the government had drawn up a budget for this year and adopted a reform plan that was supported by the European Commission.

"I am sticking to my end of the deal, I stick to my word, and I expect the same of you. We are exposed to many attacks and attempts at destabilisation, not only the government but society as a whole. I am saying openly, such attempts and those who wish to prevent reforms will not succeed," he said.
