Politician Jure Radic dies

Politician, businessman and university professor Jure Radic has died aged 62 after a long and serious illness, Hina learned on Saturday.

Radic was one of the closest associates of the first Croatian president, Franjo Tudjman, and was appointed his chief of staff in 1992, a post he held until October 1994, when he became minister of reconstruction and development in the Nikica Valentic cabinet, a post he held until 2000. In 1993, he became the secretary-general of the Croatian Democratic Union party.

After leaving the government in 2000, he joined the IGH construction company, becoming its director in October 2006.
