President extremely pleased parliament constituted

President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said on Monday she was extremely pleased that parliament had been constituted, congratulating the newly elected Speaker, Zeljko Reiner, and all MPs, wishing them successful work for Croatia's benefit.

They don't always need to agree on statements, but I hope they will agree on goals and work to Croatia's benefit, she told reporters.

I can't predict the make-up of the government, that's up to the ministers. As for the deadline for forming the government, whether it will be one month or longer, no one has requested any extension and we are just at the beginning of the process, the president said, calling for patience. "I believe the process will take its course, as it should, and I hope we will soon have a stable government."

Asked if Reiner's announcement that parliament would be given its old name, the Croatian State Parliament, was a return to the past, Grabar-Kitarovic said this name did not mean a return to the past "workwise." "I wouldn't dwell on the past. The Croatian State Parliament, why not? We are working for the past and the future."

She said Reiner's address after being elected speaker contained very positive positions to unite about Croatia's development goals. Those are very positive messages, she added.
