The Office of the President on Friday dismissed the statement by Zoran Milanovic, leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the centre-left Croatia Is Growing coalition, that at his consultations with the president on Thursday he had shown the president 66 signatures of support for him as prime minister-designate.
"Zoran Milanovic at no time showed those signatures to the President of the Republic," the spokesman for the Office of the President, Luka Djuric, told Hina.
At a news conference in the SDP offices on Friday, Milanovic said, among other things, that he was confident of the support of 66 elected members of Parliament for him as prime minister-designate. "However, it means nothing until I have 76 signatures (of support), and I showed that to the president yesterday," said Milanovic.
