Producer prices down for 37th consecutive month

Industrial producer prices in Croatia dropped in May by 6.4% from the same month of last year, and May was the 37th consecutive month to see an annual drop in those prices, the national statistical office (DZS) reported on Monday.

Compared to May 2015, prices of industrial products on the domestic market were 6.3% lower and those on foreign markets were 5.8% lower.

Producer prices in the processing industry dropped on the year by 6.2% while those in the mining industry dropped by 13.7%. Producer prices in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply dropped by 6%, and prices in water supply and wastewater management by 1%.

Compared to April, producer prices in May were up 0.6%.

Analysts of Raiffeisenbank said producer prices were expected to continue decreasing in the coming months, primarily due to deflationary pressures caused by low prices of energy products on foreign commodity markets.
