Pula - Croatian city with highest ratio of entrepreneurs per 1,000 inhabitants

Pula boasts of 67 individual entrepreneurs per 1,000 inhabitants of the economically active population, and is followed by the capital of Zagreb (65) and Split (53), according to figures released by the Croatian Financial Agency (FINA).

At the bottom of the rankings are Sisak with 22 entrepreneurs per 1,000 inhabitants of the economically active population, Slavonski Brod (24) and Karlovac (28).

FINA recalls that the 2011 census shows that the top 10 most populated cities were Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Osijek, Zadar, Velika Gorica, Slavonski Brod, Pula, Karlovac, and Sisak.

Zagreb alone has more residents (790,000) than the remaining nine cities together, 773,400.

However, the highest ratio of entrepreneurs per 1,000 inhabitants is registered in Pula.

FINA analysts believe that this can probably be ascribed to the fact that in Pula, of 38,760 residents of working age, 21.8%, that one in five, is highly educated. For the sake of comparison, this ratio in Croatia is 17.8% and in the city of Sisak the portion of highly educated persons in the economically active population stands at 11.3%.
