Pupovac says early election one of possible ways out of crisis

The president of the Serb National Council (SNV), Milorad Pupovac, has told the Belgrade media that election is one of the possible ways out of the crisis that Croatia is currently faced with.

Commenting on the crisis in Croatia, Popovac told B92 television on Monday evening that nobody was ruling out elections and that "more or less this is a way out of the present coma-like situation Croatia is in."
"The European Union itself is in difficulties and it is going through a serious crisis -- economic one --  which is why it has put part of its political activities on a side. Issues like the crisis in Croatia have only recently started catching the attention of the European public and should the crisis continue it will become a topic among the leading European institutions," Pupovac said.

Commenting on the cooling down of relations between Croatia and Serbia over Croatia’s blocking Serbia’s EU entry talks, Pupovac said the consequences of Croatia’s blockade were already visible in the public.

"The European Union is giving the countries a chance to reach agreement on their own and there is no doubt that it will find a mechanism for the Croatia-Serbia issue, just like there is no doubt that the United States is going to get involved. The consequences of Croatia’s blocking Serbia’s EU entry talks are also pretty visible in our public, " Pupovac said.

In its political talks show “Region today”, B92 television focused on Saturday’s protests in Banja Luka, relations between Croatia and Serbia and the crises in Macedonia and Kosovo.
