Pupovac says foundation for talks is guarantee that minority rights won't be cut

A parliamentary deputy of the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS) and Serb National Council (SNV) president, Milorad Pupovac, said on Wednesday that he and other minority representatives had talked to Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) president Tomislav Karamarko, underscoring the the basis for the talks with the parliamentary majority was a guarantee that the minority rights would not be reduced.

"We met and talked about how the current parliamentary majority, primarily the HDZ planned to practice its policy toward minority rights, the development of regions populated by minorities. We also talked about the way the HDZ and its partners planned to form the government," Pupovac told the press after a traditional reception organised on the occasion of Christmas celebrated by Serb Orthodox believers.

Asked if he would support this government, Pupovac said the talks had started and that minorities hoped that they would lead to the foundation for cooperation. He reiterated that the foundation for those talks would be a guarantee that minority rights would not be reduced.
