Reformist Party led by Cacic opts for coalition with Bandic party

The Reformist Party will run in the upcoming early parliamentary election with the party of Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic and other minor centrist parties in order to better use the potential of the electorate inclined to them, Reformist Party leader Radimir Cacic said on Saturday.

"This time, the centrist parties will run together in the election," Cacic said, explaining that in the previous parliamentary election those parties had won 110,00 ballots on aggregate.

Thus, in the November 2015 parliamentary election, the coalition led by the "Bandic Milan - 365" party mustered 75,000 ballots, and the Reformist Party and its partners 35,000.

Slightly below 3.8 million Croatians were eligible to vote in that election, and the turnout was 60.82%, that is 2.3 million voters went to the polls.

Cacic is the sole deputy of his party in the current, eighth legislature, and the Bandic party won two seats.

Cacic today explained that if they had run together in the November 2015 polls, they would have had about nine seats based on the number of ballots.

"However, we have three seats, on the aggregate, which means that we miscalculated (before the previous election," the Reformist Party leader said, explaining the decision of the party's main committee to opt for a coalition with Bandic Milan - 365".

Cacic ruled out any coalition with the Bridge party, which he branded as an "ultra-right clerical organisation".
