Reformists open for talks, Bandic backs candidate for PM-designate

Leader of the People's Party - Reformists Radimir Cacic on Wednesday at the fifth round of consultations with President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said that they were prepared to consider the option of supporting a non-partisan prime minister-designate, the HRID party with three elected MPs said they would not give unconditional support while the party of Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic said it would  support the Patriotic Coalition and Bridge's recommendation.

"We are open to talks in any form and if we end up in the Opposition, we will be a constructive one," said Cacic who is the only elected deputy of his party.

Asked about Tihomir Oreskovic as proposed PM-designate, Cacic said that Oreskovic was a successful manager at his best.

Cacic explained that he knew him well and that they had worked together on the construction of a new factory for the Pliva pharmaceutical company. Cacic believes that Oreskovic doesn't have any political experience and would need support from the rest however he does have political legitimacy which will be ensured by the Patriotic Coalition and Bridge. Cacic added that Oreskovic will depend on political decisions by the coalition supporting him which meant he wouldn't be independent.

HRID MP Gordana Rusak said that they could not unconditionally support the proposed PM-designate without seeing any programme, while another HRID MP Irena Petrijevcanin Vuksanovic said that they would be in the Opposition.

Confirming that he had advised the President that his party's two MPs would support Oreskovic, Bandic said that he believes Oreskovic and his team could do something for Croatia, adding that he hoped the country would one day have the same standard as the City of Zagreb.
