Science minister says gov't can implement reforms Bridge insists on

Science, Education and Sports Minister Vedran Mornar on Monday expressed the belief that the government could implement reforms insisted on by the alliance of independent slates which goes by the name MOST (Bridge).

Bridge won 19 seats in the parliament in Sunday's parliamentary election.

"It was clear from the beginning that the election results would be narrow, all polls had indicated it, and it is clear that (government formation) won't be possible without Bridge," Mornar said after an award-giving ceremony in Zagreb.

"Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic made it clear last night that he would offer cooperation to Bridge, and the ball is now in their court," he said, confident that the government could implement reforms requested of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The government has shown over the past four years, after coming to power "at the worst possible time marked by recession and GDP decline", that it is able to do it, he said.

"That decline has finally been reversed, the results are relatively good and the government deserves to continue its job," said Mornar.
