SDP insists on Karamarko's resignation, SDP MP ordered out of parliament

The opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Tuesday repeated its demand that First Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Karamarko resign over conflict of interest allegations, with Speaker Zeljko Reiner ordering out SDP MP Pedja Grbin, who repeated the demand contrary to the session's agenda.

After a break, which was requested over a different topic, Grbin recalled that three weeks ago the SDP had asked that Karamarko should step down because "it has transpired that, like his colleagues before, he put his private interests above public interests."

"The SDP will today repeat its demand that he should resign, not only because of new information that keeps surfacing every day and that reveals the extent of abuse by the First Deputy Prime Minister, but also because of the fact..." said Grbin but was cut short by Reiner, who recalled that before the break, the SDP had announced that it would discuss another topic - the appointment of new management staff in state companies and replacements in companies of special state interest.

"Do not cause disorder," Reiner told the SDP MP, who ignored the warning, saying that scholarships for students were not being paid and that the payment of welfare allowances would stop tomorrow, which prompted Reiner to order him out of the parliament.
