SDP to move no-condifence vote in Karamarko

Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader Zoran Milanovic said on Thursday that his party will launch a procedure in parliament aimed at giving First Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Karamarko a vote of no confidence over the business connection between his wife Ana and a lobbyist for the Hungarian oil company MOL, Jozo Petrovic, which is why, in Milanovic's opinion, Karamarko must resign.

Such an incestuous relationship is impossible, Milanovic told a news conference held in the SDP headquarters, underscoring that Karamarko must make up his mind whether he wanted to be in public or private business.

Milanovic insists on Karamarko's political responsibility in the case of business relations between Ana Karamarko and "the biggest lobbyist for MOL in Croatia".

"I am not saying that there are any elements of criminal responsibility, I assume there are none, but politically this is impossible, therefore Karamarko should have resigned. A line must be drawn between private and business affairs and public affairs. Politicians' work is public ... but when it comes to the HDZ the story keeps repeating from one generation to another. Given that he failed to submit his resignation, we will ask for a no confidence vote," Milanovic said.

The SDP chief also said he was interested in hearing the opinion of the junior partner in the coalition government -- Bridge -- on this matter.
