Spokesman says SDP has refused Bridge, too, has until Tuesday to change its mind

The spokesman for the Bridge reformist party, Nikola Grmoja, said on Saturday that by turning down Bridge's proposal for a tripartite government and a non-partisan prime minister, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) had also refused Bridge but that Bridge would give the SDP until Tuesday to change its mind in case its proposal was accepted by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).

SDP leader and Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said earlier in the day that the SDP main committee had unanimously assessed the possibility of forming a tripartite alliance with the HDZ and Bridge as unfeasible and once again supported him as Prime Minister-designate. He noted that the SDP's rejection was rejection of the HDZ and not of Bridge.

Grmoja, however, told Hina that by refusing Bridge's proposal for a non-partisan prime minister and a tripartite government the SDP had also refused Bridge.

"We will now wait for the HDZ's response and if that party takes the same position as the SDP, then the two parties should be let find a way to overcome this deadlock. If the HDZ accepts Bridge's proposal, we will continue talks with the HDZ and give the SDP until Tuesday, when our National Council is to hold a session, to change their decision," Grmoja said, adding that their door would remain open to the SDP.
