Three Bridge MPs leave party, form independent group

Three "rogue" MPs of the Bridge party, Ivan Lovrinovic, Ivica Misic and Juro Martinovic, said on Friday they were no longer members of Bridge and presented their new group of independent MPs, adding that Bridge was led "by someone else from the side" but would not say who.

Speaking of the reasons for leaving Bridge, Lovrinovic told reporters the party had derailed from the platform for which it won 300,000 votes, notably in the economy. He accused Bridge leader Bozo Petrov of "soloing" and of not assuming responsibility for the party's drop in ratings.

"Now we finally see that Bridge is being led by someone else from the side," Lovrinovic said, but would not say who that was. "We don't know exactly, but Petrov is changing his mind every couple of days, leaving and bringing new proposals, and many decisions were made without the National Council."

He said Croatia was politically divided and that they three did not want to participate in further polarisation but to act constructively. To avoid a new election which would cost Croatia dearly, they will try to form an efficient government but "nobody will get blank support."

He said nobody had contacted them yet about a parliament and government reshuffle, and that they would not discuss offices. The three former Bridge MPs said that, "in order to turn in the right direction," Prime Minister Tomislav Oreskovic and his two deputies, Tomislav Karamarko and Petrov, "should leave."
