The UHRS trade union federation on Saturday called on the new Croatian Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic, who took office on Friday evening, to convene a meeting with trade unions as soon as possible.
The UHRS says in a press release that the process of post-election negotiations on forming the new government lasted too long, having in mind that the country's economic situation is poor and that jobs are being shed, with all of this resulting in the deterioration of living standards.
UHRS leader Ozren Matijasevic writes that during the long post-election negotiations "unfortunately, not any stakeholder (in the talks) has found it necessary to listen to " problems or proposals of unionists.
Therefore Matijasevic urges Oreskovic to convene a meeting with unions as soon as possible.
Croatia held a parliamentary election on 8 November 2015, and the new government led by Oreskovic was approved by lawmakers on Friday, 22 January.
