Unemployment in March falls to 17.2 pct

The registered unemployment rate in March 2016 was 17.2 percent, down 0.6 percentage points on the month and 2.5 pp on the year, the national statistical office said on Friday.

At the end of March, 276,406 persons were registered with the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ), down 4.5% on the month and 13.4% on the year. The monthly decrease was due to seasonal hirings in the tourism sector.

March 2016 was the second consecutive month in which unemployment fell month on month after five months of rising.

Today, 264,558 persons are registered with the HZZ.
