Vucic, Pupovac advocate defusing tension between Croatia and Serbia

Communication between Serbia and Croatia is burdened with tension that needs to be defused, Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and president of the Serb National Council (SNV) in Croatia, Milorad Pupovac agreed on Tuesday in Belgrade.

A press release after their talks quotes Vucic as saying that "all outstanding issues in the relations between the two countries should be resolved through inter-state dialogue, taking into account the arguments of both sides without public confrontations."

Pupovac thanked Prime Minister Vucic for his commitment and pledged the support of the ethnic Serb community in Croatia to efforts to defuse tension between the two countries.

The Croatian Serb leader supported Vucic's "readiness to meet with Croatian officials in the foreseeable future."

Pupovac underscored the "political significance and benefit of a recent meeting between Vucic and Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic regarding the position of the respective ethnic minorities ," the press release said.
