Zagreb eligible for funds under Integrated Territorial Investment instrument

The City of Zagreb has been selected by the Croatian Regional Development and EU Funds Ministry as one of the cities eligible to be covered by a 345 million euro scheme of non-repayable funds to be provided by the EU Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) mechanism.

Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) is an instrument which provides for integrated delivery arrangements for investments in big European cities.

According to a press release from the press office of the Zagreb Mayor, the Croatian capital is one of the seven urban areas in Croatia with over 50,000 inhabitants that were invited to apply for ITI mechanisms.

The City of Zagreb has met all of the strict criteria for the selection of urban areas where the ITI mechanisms can be implemented for the purpose of accomplishing Europa 2020 goals.

Thus, Zagreb has joined large cities such as Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid, Helsinki, Prague and Warsaw that were selected to use this new mechanism of the European Commission for sustainable urban development, the mayor's press office said.
