"Zagreb for Paris" banner in colours of French flag displayed on Museum of Contemporary Art

A banner in the colours of the French national flag, saying "Zagreb for Paris", was displayed on the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb on Saturday in tribute to the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris and in solidarity with the people of the French capital.

"We are appalled by the killings of innocent people and are mourning together with France and with people elsewhere in the world who do not accept terrorism either as a form of intimidation or as a way of solving problems," said one of the people at the museum who put up the banner on the initiative of the city authorities.

Mayor Milan Bandic said that he had conveyed condolences on behalf of the citizens of Zagreb and on his own behalf to the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, and expressed his support for the fight against terrorism.

"The City of Zagreb, in solidarity with the City of Light, will light its fountains with the colours of the French flag and the Museum of Contemporary Art will colour its facade in the colours of the French flag, with the inscription 'Zagreb for Paris'. In this symbolic way we express our sympathy with the families of the victims and all Parisians. Moments like these remind us of the importance of togetherness, mutual understanding and support in the fight against terrorism," Bandic said.
