Zagreb to host 20th Cest is d’Best street festival as of May 26

The 20th edition of the oldest street festival in Croatia, Cest is d'Best, will take place from May 26 to June 5, bringing together a record number of performers, musicians, actors and painters who will perform over 1,000 hours of programmes on a number of Zagreb locations, reporters were told on Monday.

Organisers have lined up a dozen big concerts, about 30 smaller ones and street musical performances, a dozen plays, about 20 dance events, about 300 performance acts, about 50 painting and circus workshops, and several sports events.

Seven hundred performers from more than 20 countries will take part in the event, making this the biggest Cest is d'Best yet, festival director Zlatan Jaganjac said, adding, "You can expect anything but boredom."

Also presented at the press conference was the New Orleans Festival, which will take place in Zagreb's Zrinjevac Park on June 3-4, organised by Cest is d'Best and the US Embassy. It will feature gospel and jazz musicians, traditional New Orleans cuisine, programmes for children, and a photo exhibition. Zydeco musicians The Pine Leaf Boys from Louisiana will be special guests.

Entry to all programmes is free.
