French ambassador thanks Croatian authorities and citizens for support

France's Ambassador in Croatia, Michele Boccoz, on Saturday thanked the Croatian authorities and citizens for their support after the terrorist attacks in Paris and for the numerous expressions of sympathy and solidarity from all over Croatia.

"I wish to thank the Croatian authorities for their full support and, on behalf of the French authorities and on my own behalf, I wish to express my gratitude for the numerous expressions of sympathy and solidarity which we have received from all over Croatia, addressed to the victims, their loved ones and France," the ambassador said in a press release.

Recalling that this was the second time this year that France had been hit by terrorist attacks, after an attack on the Paris offices of the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo in January, she said that "these marks of friendship and support are very important to us in these cruel moments."

French President Francois Hollande has declared three days of national mourning for the victims of the attacks carried out at several locations in Paris on Friday night. Throughout the world French flags will be lowered to half mast. A book of condolence is to be opened at the French Embassy in Zagreb.

"We need to show unity and solidarity in the face of international terrorism and not give up our fundamental values, such as democracy, freedom and tolerance, which we will continue to defend with determination," Ambassador Boccoz said.
