All four parties convene emergency session of Turkey's parliament

Turkey's parliament convened in Ankara, in the building damaged during the coup attempt, and then the members present held a moment of silence before standing for the national anthem.

Prime Minister Binali Yildirim was attending the session and was greeted with applause as he entered, shaking the hands of some opposition politicians.

All four political parties represented in the parliament - who all opposed the coup attempt - had members attending the session.

Anti-coup demonstrators gathered outside the building with placards protesting the putsch attempt.
