Belgium is deploying 250 to 290 police officers to intensify controls at the border with France, the Belga news agency reports, amid fears that migrants may try to cross into the country after the clearing of a camp in the French city of Calais.
Interior Minister Jan Jambon wants to avoid the creation of new camps on the Belgian coast, Belga wrote. On Monday, 32 people were intercepted at the Franco-Belgian border.
"[The controls] will last as long as necessary," the news agency quoted Jambon as saying.
