Draghi hits back at German-led criticism of ECB monetary stance

European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi hits back at German-led criticism of the ECB's policies saying the bank follows its mandate.

"We have a mandate to pursue price stability for the whole of the eurozone and not just for Germany," says Draghi, adding the mandate was enshrined in law.

"We obey the law and not the politicians," he says.

He says the ECB governing council was unanimous in defending the ECB's independence and its current monetary stance.
